I’m sure you’ve read the reports that state close to 60% of employees are disengaged from their jobs. Basically this means they are coming to working, doing just enough to not get fired and then going home, and likely looking for a new job, especially now that the job market is showing signs of improving.

Not exactly sure what this means to your business? You might think about it this way, if you’re a company with 100 employees and 60 of them are disengaged what do you think this is costing you in lost opportunities? If your current revenue is ten million then each employee is creating an average of $100,000. If you are paying them on average 50,000 (I’m using nice round numbers to make the math easy to follow) then it costs you $50,000 to generate 100,000 (this does not include any additional overhead). But if 60% are disengaged and producing at 50% then really the 40% of engaged employees are each producing $175,000.

Now what could happen if all 100 employees were producing at 100%?  Your revenue would go from $10,000,000 to $17,500,000. A big improvement and what would it cost you? Not nearly as much as you’re losing!
