Now that the weather is getting nice; the leaves on the trees are starting to bud and the flowers are beginning to bloom. Isn’t it great to see color after the drab and dreary weather?
What about your business, what have you put in place that’s beginning to bloom? Or do you look around your business and think that everything looks the same, it’s still looking pretty dreary. What do you need to do different to make it bloom?
Sometimes I have to get out there and dig up my garden, prune some branches and mess things up a bit to allow for some new growth.
Our businesses are like that, so if you’re not seeing the growth that you want maybe it’s time to dig a little and do some pruning.
As you look at your business take some time and review the projects you work on or the products you sell. Are there some that are just not generating the rate of return you expect or maybe not selling at all? If so think about why you’re continuing to do them. Maybe it’s time to dig them up and get rid of them.
What about your client list, have you pruned it lately, getting ready of the dead wood to make room for new clients and new growth.
Remember 20% of your client’s bring in 80% of your revenue. You want to make sure you are taking care of those clients, watering and fertilizing them, while pulling up the dead ones allowing room for new clients.
Spend time this spring getting dirty and making a bit of a mess by making some of these decisions now and soon you’ll be able to look around and see signs of new growth in your business.
