What is this you ask? We all know April 15th is Tax Day, and July 4th is Independence Day. Well, April 88th is Entrepreneurial Annual Planning Day. How can that be, April 88th is not a day on the calendar. That’s the point – for most Entrepreneurs that’s what happens to planning, it’s not on the calendar
Maybe you’re different, maybe you are self disciplined enough to schedule a planning day and not let all those urgent tasks that show up every day just like clockwork calling “do me Now, do me NOW” distract you. It doesn’t seem to matter how clear your calendar is or that you’ve emptied your email inbox the next morning there is always more to do.
So what’s the story with April 88th? When I was growing up my girl friend and I would ask her Dad to do something for us and he’d reply, “Sure I’ll do that on April 88th,” which of course was the not so secret code that he wasn’t going to do it.
Next time you decide to plan please don’t schedule it on April 88th. Instead pick a date and put it in your calendar. It’s even better if you schedule yourself out of the office and best still if you schedule it with someone else.
Once you’ve scheduled your planning date, treat is as thought it was a meeting with your most successful, profitable client who is going to refer you to other great clients – because it is! YOU!
