I can’t believe how fast this year is going. Today (9/17/13) is … the 260th day of the year, meaning there are 105 days left, and if we adjust for the end of year holidays where not as much will get accomplished after December 13 … ah, a Friday the 13 in December. Maybe you’ll be able to use the next week, let’s say you can use 3 days, that actually leaves 92 days left, and I didn’t allow for weekends and Thanksgiving.
Wow… where are you right now, what have you accomplished so far this year and what do you want to accomplish in the last quarter and what do you want to accomplish next year? I believe this is a good time to take a look at what you have accomplished so far. What did you want to accomplish? Did you have clear goals stated at the beginning of the year? Have you accomplished some? What do you need to do to accomplish the others? Are there some that you’ve decided were not the right ones? That’s OK, things change and if you’re clear that a goal is no longer relevant then take it off the list. There is no need to strive for a goal that no longer has meaning. Make sure though that you communicate that change of direction with everyone.
What about the goals you did reach, have you celebrated and acknowledged the accomplishments of everyone who was involved in reaching those goals? Also what did you learn? Take some time and reflect on what you learned, maybe you’re ready to stretch that goal and reach even further.
Take a minute, slow down and look back so you can go faster and further next year.
