Where has the time gone? I had a vision and some goals. It seems like just a few days ago it was summer vacation and we still had half the year left. How does the time go so fast?
If this is what you feel like, I have some good news for you. You can finish the year on an upward swing, it just takes two steps – focus and release.
I’m making a big assumption here and that is that you have a clear vision and well defined goals. If not you might want to read my blogs on creating a vision and setting goals.
Now that we have that out of the way, the first step is to focus. Look at what you must do to accomplish your goals. There isn’t enough time left to do this and that, instead you need to focus on the important activities that are going to help you reach your goal. Ask yourself before you take any action, “is this going to help me reach my goal.” Hang a sign that says “I’m on a mission” and then focus on that mission.
The next step is to release and by that I mean a couple of things. You need to let go of control of the outcome. You don’t have control of the outcome, what you do have control over is what you’re doing and that’s what you need to focus on. Then you need to stop doing those time consuming activities that are taking your focus off your goals. Finally delegate everything that you can and get as many people helping and supporting you.
You can do it! You can accomplish your goals, and if you focus on what you need to do and you don’t quite make it, just think how much closer you’ll be for next year and the momentum you’ve built up through your focus and release.
