I waPhoto by Jane Lovass meeting with one of my business partners this morning and we were talking about the Mini Strategy Session that is a part of the Sage – Grow Your Business program.  As we were talking about it I realized we hadn’t been as clear and specific as we needed to be to create an effective One Focus Strategy™.

In a nutshell this is your One Focus Strategy™.

  • The focus of an early stage business is to get more clients.
    • You must focus on ONE client segment.
  • The way to get more clients is to share your message.
    • You must focus on ONE marketing channel.
    • You must focus on developing ONE system.
    • You must focus on creating ONE program/package.

If you are going to be a business it’s important to act like a business.  And a business has a something of value to sell, customers to sell to and a way to receive payment so that it can continue to grow and serve more.

I know this sounds scary doesn’t it? One client segment, one marketing channel, one system and one program.  I can hear your gasp, “But I have to do more, what if this one doesn’t work?”

Remember the old adage KISS (Keep it Simple S…) we’ll most of us want to do to much which then gets to complicated, then we get overwhelmed and flustered because there are too many things to do.

The One Focus Strategy™. helps reduce overwhelm and create momentum and visibility.  In addition, you’ll be able to quickly analyze what’s not working and what needs to be changed.

Once you’ve defined your focus in these four areas: client segment, marketing channel, system, and program or package you’ll be ready to define your strategy for the next 90 plus days.  Then you can decide how you are going to implement it and create your action plans.

The key to the One Focus is the realization that at this point you may only be one person. Think of a juggler and how much work it is to keep 6 balls in the air versus 2 balls? The fewer balls you try juggle the calmer you’ll be.  In addition you’ll get really good at what you’re doing.  Then when you add additional systems and programs you’re adding them to something that is already working.

Now’s the time to look at where you want to finish up this year and what you want to next year.  Good luck and have fun, let me know how you’re doing and if you have any questions .
