Remember listening to stories as a child and being fascinated with the stories where someone was trying to accomplish something? Leadership is like that also.  Think of some of the great leaders and their compelling stories that get hundreds and thousands to follow them. Often at great personal sacrifice.

Now I’m not suggesting you try and get others to follow you at their risk.  Instead I’m suggesting you look at what you are sharing with your employees to get them to join you.  Are you sharing a compelling story?  One that makes your employees want to help you grow your business, one that makes potential employees want to join your company?

It’s very simple to create a compelling story, it’s all about sharing the WHY. Why you are doing what you are doing, why it’s important to you, to them and to the world.  When you enroll them in your story, you help them make your why their why, and why is what’s behind passion and passion is what’s behind commitment.

“If you’re interested, you’ll do what’s convenient; if you’re committed, you’ll do whatever it takes.” ~ John Assaraf
