You’ve decided to enter the race, which lane do you want to run in the Focused Lane or the Overwhelmed Lane?  I’m sure you want to run in the Focused Lane.  It’s easy to see that that lane will be the fastest most direct lane to the Finish Line.  Yet how often do we find ourselves in the Overwhelmed Lane?  Running back and forth from side to side, not making the progress we want to make!

When you find yourself in the Overwhelmed Lane what can you do to get yourself out of it?

The biggest challenge is to realize that most of the time it’s very hard to get yourself out of it!  Which is step number 2, ask for help another challenge for most of us.  Now that you have two of the hardest steps out of the way, you need to find someone to help you.  Help with what?

You want to define what your Finish Line is, you need clarity around what you are trying to accomplish.  Once you have a clear picture of what you are trying to accomplish it’s time to focus on those things that only you can do to reach your goal. If you try and do to many things you’ll be right back in the Overwhelmed Lane.  The rest of the things that you think need to be done, you get to release them.  The choice of how to release them is yours.  You can let them go completely – they are not important and are not going to take you to your goal or you can delegate them, they are important and they will help you reach your goal, they are just not what you need to be spending your time doing because they will distract you from doing those things that only you can do.
