Leading with Love
3 Pillars for Transformational Leadership
Great leadership begins with the leader. Here is the framework behind everything I do.
Why I lead with love
Leadership has never been the destination. It has always been the means.
Organizations matter because people matter. Businesses exist to create value, opportunity, innovation and prosperity, but in the end they exist to improve lives. The purpose of leadership is not only to build exceptional organizations. It is to create the conditions where people can flourish.
Leading with Love is not soft. It asks more of a leader, not less: know yourself, earn trust, and measure success by everyone your company touches.
The three pillars
1. Know Thy Self
Leadership begins with self-awareness.
You can't lead others well until you know what drives you, what you value, and how you show up under pressure. Most leaders who become the bottleneck aren't short on talent. They've never stopped to look at the habits that pull them back into every decision.
- Get clear on your values and the vision only you can see right now
- Notice how you react when things go sideways, and what that costs your team
- Use honest feedback and assessments to see yourself the way others do
2. Put Others First
Leadership grows through trust.
Your team can't care the way you do about a vision they've never been given. Putting others first means sharing that vision clearly, listening fully, and giving people the room to own their work and bring you the hard problems.
- Share the vision, the mission and your expectations so anyone can say them back
- Listen to understand, then confirm what you heard instead of assuming
- Trust the people you hired to do their jobs, and let them prove it
3. Create Success for All
Leadership succeeds when everyone succeeds.
Profit and valuation are not the whole scoreboard. A company that grows while its people, clients and community struggle hasn't succeeded. Building something comes with an obligation to everyone and everything it touches: employees, clients, suppliers, communities, and the land, water and energy they depend on.
- Define success to include your people, clients, suppliers and community
- Make decisions with the full impact of your growth in view
- Build a company that can thrive without you carrying all of it
When leaders know themselves, they lead with integrity. When they put others first, they build trust. When they create success for all, organizations become places where people, communities and businesses thrive together.
From belief to practice
Leading with Love is what I believe. Breathe, Ask, Listen is what I practice. Stakeholder Centered Coaching is where it becomes measured behavior change.
The pillars come to life in small moments, usually under pressure. That's where Breathe, Ask, Listen comes in:
- Breathe. Take a deep breath and let it out slowly. Let your mind and body settle before you respond.
- Ask. Find the simplest question that gives the other person a safe space to say what they really need.
- Listen. Stay fully present. No interrupting, no judging, no fixing. Then repeat as needed.
Why it matters
When leadership is practiced this way, success becomes more than financial performance. It becomes freedom: to spend time with family, care for your health, keep learning, serve others, and leave a legacy. Freedom to take two weeks away and come back to find the company did just fine.
Bring Leading with Love to your team
Coaching. Stakeholder Centered Coaching turns the pillars into measured behavior change, rated by the people you lead.
